A protected nursery your small fish can enter and predators cannot
Build a six-sided cage where fry and forage fish shelter beyond the reach of larger fish. Openings averaging about 1.5 inches square admit the youngest fish; fork slots add escape routes as they grow. Fill the interior with your chosen Fishiding cover for a concentrated nursery refuge.

Will fish actually use a cage?
Larry Frisk placed his at the end of the dock and reported it really attracting fish, with kids fishing all around and on top of it. Assemble the sections near the placement area, fill them with the desired mix, and move the finished cage from a dock, pontoon or barge with suitable equipment.
How does it fit a larger layout?
Use the Oasis as the center of a habitat complex: the intricate surfaces grow algae and periphyton while the enclosed space lets small fish feed and develop.
Fill it with fine Cradle Hair PVC, and record its placement with SmallSpot markers.
